Soriano Is Yakima's New Hero

YAKIMA, June 26—To Dewey Soriano's twin titles of pitcher and president of the Western International league-leading Yakima Bears must be added now a third descriptive—hitter.
With one down, two Tacoma Tigers on base and the score tied at 1-all in the top of the 12th. Big Dew assumed the slab tonight at Yakima and snuffed out the rally. Old stuff to Big Dew. But with Nini Tornay on second and one away in the bottom half, the pitcher-president became a hitter, clouted a single and drove home the winning tally to the delight of all Yakimans who were able to remain awake that long.
The Bears snipped out a 7-5 verdict in the opener. The dual win increased their lead over idle Vancouver to eight and a half games.

BREMERTON, Wash., June 26—Salem's Ray McNulty manacled the Bremerton Bluejackets with three hits in the 7-inning 6-2 win in the opener at the Navy City Sunday, but the Jacktars jumped back with 17 hits for a 17-1 triumph in the nine-inning second game.
Charlie Bushong unloaded four-for-five for the winners in the late struggle.
