VANCOUVER, June 19—Hunk Anderson turned in a brillinat five inning stint to collected his fourth win against no losses in the abbreviated Sunday opener, 9-3, while lefty Jim Hedgecock handcuffed the slugging Yaks to win the second Sabbath game, 4-3.
Nicholas tried for his ninth win the first game, after being pulled from Saturday's game before an out was recorded. The Caps put four on the board in the second after Ray Tran, Bud Sheely, Orrin Snyder, Nicholas and Fernandez all hit to bring in four runs, but Nicholas gave up four hits for three runs in the bottom of the inning and was pulled with one out. The Caps earned every run by pairing solid hits for single runs in the fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth frames. Jim Robinson suffed a triple, a double and a single and Charlie Mead whacked a pair of doubles and a triple.
Yakima scored tice in the eighth. In the ninth, Hedgecock walked Ray Orteig and Snag Moore after fanning Babe Gammino. Both runners advanced when catcher Sheely threw the ball into right field. But Hedgecock got Nini Tornay and Dick Briskey to ground out to end the game.
