SALEM, June 16—Vancouver Capilanos strengthened their hold on second place by downing the Salem Senators twice 2-0 and 3-2. Hunk Anderson adnd Bob Costello gave the Caps airtight pitching to shade Hank Sciarra and Stu Fredericks.
The first run of the opener came in on a walk, a double to Len Tran and an outfield fly by Charlie Mead. The second tally came in on a hit by Mead, an error and a single by Bill Brenner.
Henry Fernandez was back in centre field, meaning no pitchers were forced to play in the outfield.
Hunk Anderson allowed only five Salem hits and didn't walk anyone while striking out a pair. Sciarra only allowed six Vancouver hits in taking the defeat.
Salem took the lead in the second inning of the nightcap on a homer by Mel Masley. Henry Fernandez singled home Bob McLean to put the Caps even.
Two hits and a walk put the Senators ahead in the last of the fifth, but the Caps won it with two runs inn the sveenth.

WENATCHEE, June 16—Pitcher Merle Frick and Shortstop Ritchie Meyers hit for the circuit to spark the Wenatchee Chiefs to a 14-8 triumph over Bremerton.

YAKIMA, June 16—The Yakima Bears bunched their runs in threes three times as they mauled the Victoria Athletics, 11-4, tonight and handed the A's their fourth straight loss.
Babe Gammino and Ted Jennings each socked three-run homers.
Frank Finnegan hit one out of sight for Victoria's first run in the seventh.
The smallest crowd of the season, 409, sat in.
A's notes – Eddie Leishman, Yankees West Coast Farm Director, will be with the A's through the road trip and the next home stand to see what ha o be done to improve the club.
