SALEM, Ore., June 13—The Vancouver Capilanos handed the Salem Senators a 7-4 setback in the only Western International League schedule tonight to close the margin between themselves and the league-leading Yakima Bears to six games. The game took only one hour and 31 minutes—a 1949 record—to play.
A Salem error paved the way for three Vancouver runs in the first inning. Jim Robinson and Charlie Mead singled before W. Peterson booted the ball at second base. Bill Brenner followed with a two-run double.
The Senators got one back in the second, the Caps added a run in the third when Ray Tran singled, stole second on came in on Bob McLean's single.
Salem deadlocked the count at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning on Bob Cherry's bases-loaded double.
Caps got their winning margin in the sixth on singles by Brenner, George Nicholas and Robinson and a double by Henry "Rickey" Fernandez as the home club peeled 12 hits off the slants of Salem's ace trigger-man Jim Olson.

Mt. Vernon, Wash., June 11—Victoria Athletics spent their night off here where they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Milkmaids, Washington State semi-pro champions.
Al Drew, making his first start on the mound for the A's, and Rex Jones allowed only five hits, while the Norbertmen collected eight. The Milkmaids bunched their hits in the sixth for all their runs.
